A New Discrete Implicit Monte Carlo Scheme for Simulating Radiative Transfer Problems

چکیده
We present a new algorithm for radiative transfer-based on statistical Monte Carlo approach-that does not suffer from teleportation effects, the one hand, and yields smooth results, other hand. Implicit (IMC) techniques modeling transfer have existed 1970s. When they are used optically thick problems, however, basic suffers "teleportation" errors, where photons propagate faster than exact physical behavior, due to absorption-blackbody emission processes. One possible solution is use semianalog Carlo, in its implicit form (ISMC), which uses two kinds of particles, discrete material particles. This excellent teleportation-free but it also produces noisier solutions (relative classic IMC), nature. Here, we derive algorithm, Discrete (DIMC), idea thus errors. DIMC implements IMC discretization creates radiation each time step, unlike ISMC. Using continuous absorption technique, results like IMC. main elements avoidance explosion particle population, by using merging. test 1D 2D cylindrical show that smooth, results. finish demonstrating power hydrodynamic problem-an opaque shock wave. demonstrates astrophysical scenarios.

Monte Carlo radiative transfer in protoplanetary disks
Aims. We present a new continuum 3D radiative transfer code, MCFOST, based on a Monte-Carlo method. MCFOST can be used to calculate (i) monochromatic images in scattered light and/or thermal emission, (ii) polarisation maps, (iii) interferometric visibilities, (iv) spectral energy distributions and (v) dust temperature distributions of protoplanetary disks. Methods. Several improvements to the ...
متن کاملDiscrete Ordinates and Monte Carlo Methods for Radiative Transfer Simulation applied to CFD combustion modelling
Modelling radiative heat transfer in combustion applications involving complex geometries and detailed spectral properties of radiative gaseous species remains a difficult challenge, especially when full coupling with detailed chemistry and fluid dynamics is required. The Monte Carlo Method (MCM) usually considered as a reference ”exact” method for the computation of radiative transfer is howev...
متن کاملEfficient Monte Carlo methods for continuum radiative transfer
We discuss the efficiency of Monte Carlo methods in solving continuum radiative transfer problems. The sampling of the radiation field and convergence of dust temperature calculations in the case of optically thick clouds are both studied. For spherically symmetric clouds we find that the computational cost of Monte Carlo simulations can be reduced, in some cases by orders of magnitude, with si...
متن کاملMonte Carlo Radiative Heat Transfer Simulation on a Reconfigurable Computer
Recently, the appearance of very large (3 – 10M gate) FPGAs with embedded arithmetic units has opened the door to the possibility of floating point computation on these devices. While previous researchers have described peak performance or kernel matrix operations, there is as yet relatively little experience with mapping an application-specific floating point loop onto FPGAs. In this work, we ...
